Safeguarding Report 2023

Safeguarding report to the Annual Church Meeting 2023

The Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Policy for St Andrew’s Psalter Lane Church, based on the Methodist model policy, was reviewed and approved by the ECC in November 2022. There were no changes from the last review.

We have reviewed SAPLC Safeguarding procedures - we used to have a dual system, with DBS checks being done via the CofE and most training via the Methodist Circuit. We have now been informed that we need to use either Anglican or Methodist, and decided to go with the Methodist system as our Safeguarding Policy is adapted from the Methodist model policy.

People in certain roles have to have a DBS check, and all Trustees as well as other volunteers need to do Safeguarding training. A Foundation Training course was arranged forheld at SAPLC on 21 March 2023, which was well attended. Those who could not attend this course will be informed of courses as they arise. Some people have already done an Advanced course.

We hope to get all DBS checks up-to-date as soon as possible.
