The main Sunday service is at 10.30 am, and follows the following pattern:
- 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays in the month The Service of Word and Table (Holy Communion)
- 2nd Sunday in the month All Age Worship
- 4th Sunday in the month The Service of the Word
This pattern may vary around festival times.
Services of Thanksgiving for the Birth of a Child or Baptism (Christening) take place as part of the main Sunday service.
There are Junior Church activities for children from age 2-3 and above during the Sunday service, except All Age Worship on the second Sunday, when we are all together and the service is shorter.
For babies and their parents we provide a creche area to use when you need to; there are toys, and you can still hear and see the main service.
The service may be led by the Vicar, the Methodist minister, Anglican Readers or Methodist Local Preachers.
In keeping with the two traditions we represent (Methodist-Anglican), you will find a range of styles of worship, both formal and informal. It may be helpful to say that we are neither high church (anglo-catholic) nor charismatic-evangelical. We strive for a freshness of approach and seek to feed both the mind and the heart. Seating 'in the round' in the newly re-ordered church creates a relaxed, intimate atmosphere.
The Sunday Evening Service at 6.30 pm aims to stay true to 'pure' Methodist and Anglican styles of worship, and follows the following pattern:
- 1st Sunday in the month Anglican Evening Prayer
- 2nd Sunday in the month Methodist Holy Communion (held in MHA 'Southcroft', next to the church)
- 3rd Sunday in the month Evening Service (held in rotation with Endcliffe Methodist Church and St Augustine's Endcliffe)
- 4th Sunday in the month Anglican Choral Communion
- 5th Sunday in the month A Meditation Service
This is usually a quiet service with a small congregation, but those who come find it helpful.
Other Services
Every Wednesday at 10.00 am there is a service - usually Holy Communion, occasionally a guided meditation - in which we briefly explore the life of a saint or an interesting Christian who was not a saint, or even an inspiring person of another faith. There is usually a short discussion. Afterwards coffee is available.
